ANTONIO SORGI

Musician

 

He got his diploma in piano and conducting  at the Conservatory  L. Refice of Frosinone, Italy. Later he studied composition at the St. Cecilia Conservatory of Rome and musical analysis with professors T. Procaccini and J. Estrada.

Since 1981 he works as accompanist for opera singers performing in Italy and abroad. Further more I collaborated with Roma Opera House, Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto, Bellini Theatre of Naples and RAI TV 3.

In 1991 he started his professional activity as conductor for opera and symphonic repertoire, collaborating in many concerts with the chamber orchestra Arcangelo Corelli.

Among the theatres where he performed as conductor we mention: Nazional Theatre of Miskolc (Hungary), Theatre Greco of Taormina, Verdi Theatre of Florence, Municipality Theatre of Treviso, Bonci Theatre of Cesena, "Gonfalone's Oratorio" and "Cancelleria" Apostolic Palace in Rome.

He has written music for theatre productions and some of his compositions have been performed in many festival of contemporary music. He participated as musical assistant in some recording production by Bongiovanni label and he signed some recording reviews for the Italian music magazine Suono. He covered the position of artistic director of some festivals and concerts seasons such as: Concerti per un Domani (for the Vicariato of Rome), Concerti della Domenica (Auditorium of Seraphicum), Chitarra in Company (San Genesio Theatre).

Since 1989 he is accompanist for dancer at the National Dance Academy of Rome. For classical ballet and contemporary dance he has worked in stages and performances with some of the most famous and prestigious international choreographers, such as: F. Alexander, C. Damianov, L. Calizza, U. Dell’Ara, D. Ganio, R. Paganini, E. Terabust, M. Trajanova. Since 2000 he is artistic consultant of the Latinitas Vaticana Foundation for the Certamen Vaticanum.
